The First Year Package

It lasts three hundred sixty-five days, fifty-two weeks, twelve long months, and it’s over in an instant.

Your baby’s first year.

It’s a lifetime. It’s a blink of an eye.

No year brings more change, more emotion, more joy than the first.

So tiny and wrinkly and brand-new to begin. Your baby’s eyes are like dark pools of ocean water that leave you wondering what colour they’ll be. It is a time of milk comas and that newborn smell of fresh-baked cookies.

It’s you and your partner thrust into unfamiliar territory. A place of long sleepless nights and doubt and a love deeper than anything you’d felt before.

And then your baby is four months old. A drooling, smiling, laughing bundle of fat. It’s tummy time. A little person is starting to emerge. You might even see something of yourself in there.

You’re feeling more confident now. You’re getting the hang of this thing called parenthood. And still your patience wears thin through all the exhaustion.

At eight months your little one isn’t so little – even chubbier and sitting up all by themselves. Your very own carpet worm. It’s a time for clapping and grabbing, a time when every toy seems to go straight into a gummy mouth. And what are those poking through? Two teeth!

The whole family is on a better schedule now. You’re finding your rhythm. You’re getting more rest. You can do this.

Happy first birthday, baby! But perhaps not such a baby any more. A toddler is coming. Always on the move, maybe even taking those first tentative steps. So strong now and babbling a ‘language’ somehow only you can understand.

You have a one-year old now. You and your partner did it! You made it through that endless first year. You have no idea where the time went. Where did it go? Where did my baby go?

The answer to those and many more questions comes through the photography I do.

My images of your child’s first year, of your family’s first year, create and preserve real memories – the kind you can feel in your bones. Every image tells a story. The important stages of your baby’s growth are captured.

How wonderful it is for your child to grow up and to use these photographs to look back at it all, to be able to feel what you felt when you were trying to figure it all out.

What you're going to do with your images is perhaps the most important aspect to consider when you're planning for a photo session, but it's all too often the aspect that's overlooked... all that time and money invested deserve a better return than photos gathering dust on a hard drive somewhere. You'll never get the same feeling looking at your photos on a screen as you will seeing them on your wall or flipping through the pages of an album, so I include a substantial print credit with every collection.

Below is a sample of some of the items you can choose among:

THE STORIES THAT CAN BE SHARED ARE THE ONES THAT LIVE ON.

I remember as a child grabbing photo albums and looking at images of people I didn’t know and still feeling nostalgic as I asked my mom who these people were. It allowed me to learn of the generations before me, it brought my mom and I together— even if just for a moment.

Or more recently my siblings all sitting in the floor of my mum's living room, stacks of photographs piled in everyone’s laps— retelling stories of our Nana who had just passed.

You can’t relive these memories when they are hidden away in iCloud or an external hard drive.

They allow for our future selves to reminisce and enjoy the memories of moments that have long passed. I truly value that these products will be in your hands, not stuck on the web somewhere and can be passed down for your children to enjoy.

WOULDN’T YOU RATHER HOLD A BOX OF PRINTS, OR AN ALBUM ALREADY DESIGNED TO TELL YOUR STORIES?
