When Trevor and Michelle contacted me about their summer wedding in Caledon, I knew it was going to be amazing. They were planning a low key, non-traditional outdoor wedding at the beautiful Terra Cotta Inn which is set along the Credit River. What made me realize their wedding was going to be extra fun was how relaxed and laid back they were when they talked about what they were planning. When I asked what time their ceremony would be, they said ‘oh we don’t really have a set time. We’ll just probably walk towards the ceremony site with everyone when the time is right.’ I LOVE that!
Trevor and Michelle wanted their wedding to be a celebration of love but without all of the traditions that come with a typical wedding. They planned to see each other before the ceremony without doing a reveal. They wanted to walk towards their ceremony WITH their guests when the time was right. Trevor’s sister officiated the ceremony which is one of my favourite ways to personalize a ceremony. If you can’t find an officiant you gel with, have a close friend or family member be your officiant! Michelle wore sneakers, a blue summer dress and sunglasses because that’s her and comfort is key. They spent their cocktail hour playing games with their friends and family and had a late lunch reception. Trevor’s mom is an incredibly talented potter and she made all of the guests a beautiful handmade pot to take home.
Trevor and Michelle’s summer wedding in Caledon was a dream from beginning to end. It was truly a one of a kind type of wedding and I can’t wait to document more non-traditional outdoor weddings.
